Harlequin Swagger - Design Talk - next newsletter
As with all my designs I like to create the pattern with sizes from 34"chest to 54"chest, however Mitres do present sizing challenges. Each Mitre is a square, simple increase the number of stitches and the Mitre is larger and the chest size is increased - however so is the length! With this design the armhole depth is created by Mitres too, which again create sizing restrictions.
In the next newsletter I will share a few details about this design and how to create larger sizes, just waiting to hear from my publisher so I can use images from the book to do this.
This has to be one of the most knitted pieces, featured on the cover of my book
Swing, Swagger, Drape - knit the Colors of Australia

Above images from customers show the Harlequin in single colour cream wool and mohair combination, so the texture of the yarn is the contrast, you can really see the garter and st-st stripes in the skirt of the piece, whilst from the waist up is all garter st Mitres.
Next knitted extra long length in natural shades of hand spun yarn.
Blue cotton combination from Jean in the UK, stunning piece, Jean is a tall lady.
From the book in Khaki and lime is the three colour combination, the cover picture shows Harlequin knitted in just two colours.
As you can see in the image below left that the coat is virtually a semi circle.

Below: Cowls and scarves as knitting kits.
Wave Cowl in Cinque 8ply, Wave Wrap in Azteca Autumn Harvest, Circular Cowl in Cinque 8ply
Right above and below centre and right: Circular Cowl - one pattern with 3 options and 3 yarn choices too. Knitted circular in Corrugated Garter = knit 2 rounds/ purl 2 rounds. Above is 8ply knitted on large needles. Increases are worked to take the Cowl over the shoulder. Below right Azteca which is a 12ply knitted circular top down, so a deep section is knitted before increases to create the look of a collar. Azteca comes in 100g balls so this only takes 1 ball, whilst centre is the same piece using 2 balls of Azteca. Note the added plait trim - I hate knitting circular, so I knit it on straight needles to save a little yarn and work a plait as a trim to cover the seam!
