New for 2025 - the Dublin Jacket |
Dublin design now has the original Jumper option and a new Cardigan or Jacket with a touch of swagger into the hip |

The new 2025 Dublin Jacket will have the Shawl collar (like the Shona Jacket right) as well as a round neck option. The instructions have three length options and 8 chest sizes.
The sample is still on the needles - photo soon!
The Dublin Design has only been a Jumper with a touch of A-line into the side panel.
Many of my designs come as both Jumper / Sweater and Cardigan / Jacket styles. In the last couple of years my jumper styles have been increasingly popular. |

Harvest Jacket now has a longer version with added A-line shaping to create a Swagger style with extra room over the hips. Let's take a closer look at the stitch patterns in Harvest Jacket |
  |
The Harvest Jacket started with the Apple Tree which is centre back between the shoulders, this took about 6 swatches to achieve a good balance.
The picking up of neckbands is always a challenge and even moreso from Reverse Stocking stitch to achieve a good finish. I use what I call a Garter Ridge, the pick up row right front edge to left front edge is knit, the first WS row knit to achieve Purl on the RS, Purl next row RS = 2 rows of Purl, WS row Purl. Then work the rib of the collar. This Garter Ridge Purl hides any uneveness in the pick up row. |
  |
The small Pear Tree (left) has Grasses each side. With 8 chest sizes I have given the grasses as a row by row instruction, which I have continued for the full garment.
The most challenging section to design was the half Apple tree each side of the buttonband, to bring the tree branches from the cable. I am very happy with the results.
On the needles at present I have a longer style with more A-line adding a slight Swagger into the hip. The original has a touch of A-line into the side panels only. |

Canberra knit classes at the Australian Yarn Show Mar 8 -9 |
Last year saw a new yarn event in Canberra, The Australian Yarn Show. It brought together an amazing range of Australian yarn makers, Indie dyers and designers. Caterina and John presented an amazing event, with two days of bustling market place, guest speakers, workshops, demonstrations, community events, panel discussions, a knit clinic, competitions - something for every fibre lover. |

I had a stall at The Australian Yarn Show last year, but figured the show this year is a great opportunity to teach in Canberra, so I will be teaching 3 x two and three hour knit classes - you can see class details and bookings on the website.
The entry fee to The Australian Yarn Show includes everything except the classes. The show and classes will be held at the Hotel Realm Canberra 18 National Circuit, Barton ACT.

Famous Paintings come to life |
  |
I do love Picture knitting. In the 1990's I had a huge range of picture knits. I always knit the first sample so I can play with the colours as I go. Once knitted I tidy up and graph the design. A piece of cake? Not when I look back at the 100's of hours it takes!
This first sample shown above started at the back with Ocean Blue as the base to make Van Gogh's sunflowers pop. For the left front of 'Girl with a Pearl Earing' by Johannes Vermeer I used a Charcoal base colour then added red tulips as their bulbs were wildly valued at this time in history.
The right front has Klimt's Woman in Gold, the sleeves have Monet's Water Lillies and Van Gogh's Starry Night. Of course my handmade buttons abound. |
For Famous Paintings second sample knit I'm using Steel Blue as the base colour. |
