I have lots of space at this market, so if you have a Signatur Knitting kit in progress and have any questions please drop in and show me.

It's free entry and free parking and an easy walk to the Turramurra railways station too.

Of course you're still welcome to visit my Killarney Heights studio but Turramurra is much more accessable.

In Style is on Sunday May 7th from 10am to 3pm

First Sunday of the month

This market is ideal if you want to order a made to measure garment or a knitting kit: less crowded than the larger shows. Or just drop in and say hi!

In Style Market Turramurra Located in Turramurra Masonic Hall, corner of Pacific Hwy and Turramurra Ave (car park on turramurra Ave)
Indoors, air conditioned and is a great venue.
Design Talk
This is a new segment to my newsletters, a closer look at design from garment shaping, fit to stitch patterns. Each newsletter will include this segment, it has been requested in several emails, I am happy to take your requests!
Coley Swagger and Coley Fitted Jacket in detail.
I have sold many patterns and knitting kits in these two designs,  one lady is on her 4th piece!

Why two versions? I love the waved hemline (below left) on the Swagger style, I know this isn't for everybody; so the Fitted Jacket has a ribbed edge (right) and still has ample ease over the hips.
I call this Leaf Lace, I am sure many won't call this lace but to me an increase that creates a hole/ eyelet in the knitting is a lace pattern. Working a yrn - yarn over needle each side of a centre stitch creates the hole, obviously a different increase than you would use to increase a sleeve.
The close up on the ribbed hemline (above right) here decreases, taking the rib into an upward chevron. As we decrease the rib the Lace Leaf commences with increases.
For the Coley designs I have used the Lace Leaf as a repeat with a two stitch cable between each leaf. The decrease and increase of the leaf takes the cable on a journey around each leaf. I love the look of movement this creates.
I have used the Lace Leaf to shape the garment from hip to shoulder. The first row of leaf lace increases to 23sts. With each following repeat one less increase is worked, so next leaf is 21sts, reducing the leaf to 13sts at the shoulder. This creates the A-line shaping to a neat fit over the shoulders.

Yes the instructions include graphs and charts - for great results!

Part of the beauty of the designs I create is they are designed for women, shaped and style, so you need to be on your toes and use markers to keep track of body shaping.
If you get a little lost I am simply an email away.
Below are close-up examples of the Lace Leaf used in different designs, and as individual motif's.
Left Patchwork Jacket (sorry this pink is discontinued - nearest is Peony) I am happy to send a free shade card, just let me have your street address. jane@sigknit.com

Canberra
Wool Day at the Old Bus Market Depot.
Sat 20th & Sunday 21st May

I am so happy to report that this annual event will be over 2 days this year. It is so popular it's crazy! Crazy for me, everything a million miles a hour and lots of questions, crazy for customers to get a park, so really looking forward to two days!
Stall holders travel down from Sydney and up from Melbourne, both locals and interstate lovers of wool attend each year. With 2 days I might even get to explore what's on show!

The difference between Basket Stitch and Woven Basket Stitch.

The Tally Ho Jacket front bands are knitted in Moss stitch, this stitch pattern is reversable, that is the right side fo the knitting and the wrong side look the same.
Centre Chaffey Jacket is knitted in different scales of Woven Basket - the wrong side looks quite different to the right side of the knitting, so the front bands are knitted in Corrugated garter - which is a mock rib and reversable. Right shows close up of the front bands of the Bee bee Jacket, worked in basket stitch, again a reversable stitch pattern.

I use reversable stitch pattern for Shawl collared Jackets designs. With the Bee Bee Jacket (right) the design is about blocks of colour and cables, so a reversable stitch is ideal.

Tally Ho Jacket (left) I have used Moss Stitch bands, and included Moss stitch into panels within the garment.
As with many of my designs these front bands are knitted as one with the front of the garment.

Woven Basket (above) in Sequoia shows the wrong side of the Woven Basket stitch, it's quite interesting, a single Purl row is the key to creating the Woven look on the right side.

Chaffey Jacket (left) this side shots shows the side seam cable detail and the open side seam edge. I have used the Woven Basket in a large scale on the sleeve, a smaller scale for the front.

Every stitch pattern can be altered, by stitch numbers and rows. For the Chaffey I chose to make the Reverse st-st brick like, more stitches than rows.
Large Woven Basket, a repeat over 12sts *P9, K3*, worked for 7 rows, so it creates a brick shape, work 1 wrong side Purl row to complete 8 rows. The following 8 rows the K3 is centred over the P9, the repeat P3,*K3, P9* K3, P3 again for 7 rows, wrong side Purl, making total of 16 rows to the repeat.

Smaller Woven Basket a repeat over 8sts *P6, K2* repeat for 3 rows, 4th row Purl wrong side. The next 4 rows the K2 is centred over the P6, worked P2, *K2, P6* K2, P2 again for 3 rows, wrong side Purl, making total of 8 rows to the repeat.

The front band Corrugated Garter, knitted as one with the fronts. This is a mock rib, as it creates the appearance of rib, but is simply worked Reverse st-st 2 rows and st-st 2 rows.

Pandora Jacket, is now available on the www.sigknit.com onto the site. I will feature this in the May newsletter and take a closer look at this design.
