August Sydney, Canberra & Orange
in August & September and 10% off!

I am still relishing the chilly start to the day, wrapping myself up before I take Choppie for his walk.

Between shows I am just managing to keep stock up-to-date with great sales on new designs and a wonderful ongoing appreciation of the fun I have with knitting colourful Mitres and putting them onto the back of Jackets, Coats and Drapes.

Coal Loaders Market Sunday 28th August
Located at Balls Head, from Waverton Station just head down to the point. The venue is the centre for sustainability - it is where the coal was loaded on ships and an interesting site with the addition of vertical veggie gardens and chickens - not to forget the market!

Handmade Market Canberra @ EPIC
Sat 10th and Sun 11th Sept 10am to 4pm.

The move to EPIC has been wonderful and the show has expanded to take in even more Australian Made goods from Designers and Makers in NSW, VIC and SA!
Orange Craft Alive at Orange Function Centre
Fri to Sun 16th to 18th September.
Australian Craft and Quilt, Craft Alive hosts shows in regional VIC, NSW and Qld, and it has been years since I have joined them. Really looking forward to showing new designs and new yarns!

Designing: the Journey
I am taking time to think about where my journey takes me next. In Australia I sell direct from my studio and it's great fun having locals and overseas visit or, as happens every other year, a cruise ship of knitters arrive at the studio for a trunk show and classes.
When I pack up my van in Australia for a show, taking almost 160 garments plus yarns with me, my trips are about sales of garments and knitting kits.
When I pack a suitcase to the USA it's slightly different, mainly teaching within a show and in yarn stores: or Trunk shows, where I travel with garment samples from suitcases.
As part of these I talk to knitters and knitting groups using presentations with plenty of images that are all about fit, style and design, as well as demonstrating knitting techniques.

In March I taught at the Grampian Textures retreat in Victoria, giving me from 2-6 days with a group of knitters where I could combine teaching with presentation segments on design and styling. It really rounds out the classroom experience by providing a better understanding of the pattern's unique details.

When I am in the USA I may be lecturing, or with the launch of my book, sharing ideas and designs with 500 knitters: what a great experience, and one mum was able to share.

In 2017 I 'll be looking at adding presentations to my travels in Australia, with lots if pictures along with hands-on fashion parades.

Online I will extend newsletters with outlines on the design process of certain designs, as we all want to know where inspiration begins.
Above Stitched Up Jacket, Windsor Jacket and Billy Drape Jacket all new 2016, below a line up of colours with Mitre Tally Ho Jacket/ Vest now available pattern only.
Knitting, like other crafts, is acknowledged as a way to keep the mind active and the fingers nimble! Sadly knitting still conjures up in some people's mind something an elderly relative does. My team of knitters are testament to keeping young, with several in their mid '80's, producing wonderful garments as well as great young knitters working on new designs. If you own a Signatur Handknits and look at the label on the inside seam you'll find the name of the knitter who made your piece.
It's all about colour!
