NEW! Yarn to knit fancy

Okay, all of you who live in the Northern Hempisphere don't think we get winter in Australia! Well, sure, Sydney doesn't even get a frost, but we still think it's cold! Well I hope it is reasonably chilly, especially prior to the June Quilt Fair in Sydney.

It's the last year for the Quilt Fair at Glebe Island (not an actual island): you can arrive by ferry from Circular Quay too, right to the door virtually. There will again be a treasure chest to win! I am again participating by including a knitting kit in the 'plunder' - it all goes to one winner - last years was worth over $10,000!!!

But before Sydney I have another visit to Canberra - the last until September - so come and say hi and check out what's new!
Handmade Market Canberra Sat 11th & Sun 12th June 10am - 4pm
It's the BIG one!
Five days of Craft at your finger tips! I have a lovely big stand, plenty of mirrors, lots of garments and stacks of yarn!
New Design for 2016: Billy Drape Jacket
Billy Drape Jacket is knitted sideways with a touch of A-line and a great ribbed front.
Front rib is knitted hem to neck with short rows, so rib is wider at the hem than the neck edge, knitted sideways the cables travel across the body of the Jacket - really the only fit is the measurement worked between the armholes, to sit the drape to the shoulder line. Rib neck band is continuous, back hem line assymetric split again with short rows.
Colours shown Sequoia, Cream and Stone Fleck. Buttons are toggles and are handmade.
As with all new designs Billy Drape is sold as a garment and a knitting kit.
Re-Mastering: Split Texture Jacket
I love the short rows front and back, the back buttoning and the new corrugated garter front band, which is worked into the collar. As with many of my designs the band and the front are worked as one. Great combination of stitches, which the new photos show really well. Now I love the short rows, but I have written the pattern so you can work without the short rows, also there is a longer length too!
The other design incorporating these stitches is the long line Split Texture Kimono. The back hem has 3 buttons, but is an even hem without the short rows.

Handmade Canberra

A great 2 days to celebrate the winter chill! Last year the show moved to EPIC - Exhibition Park In Canberra, and has quickly grown into the new space.

It's our last year at Glebe Island and there's heaps of parking or you can come by show Ferry from Circular Quay or Show Bus from Central Station.

This huge venue allows class space adjacent to stands for instant classes, plus drop-in speakers, covering vintage dressing, retro design, interior design ...... lots to discover!

Purchasing patterns 2014 designs

New designs remain as knitting kits for around two years, then the pattern becomes available to purchase - without the kit. Many overseas customers are however discovering that the low Australian dollar means Kits are very well-priced and the yarn quality is just brilliant! Topping that you get to choose from over 50 stunning colours!

I do offer the purchase price of the pattern as a future credit for the knitting kit. So, the pattern for the Diamond Cable swing $65 - kit $215 - then the pattern credit of $65 = $150 for the yarn and buttons.
2014 designs are now available as patterns

2014 DESIGNS: Nomad Jacket,
Ameila Jacket, Mitre Tally Ho Jacket/Vest, Dora Jacket, Millar A-line.

SWINGCOAT PATTERNS:
Diamond Cable Swing, Times Cable Swing, Tudor Swing. This is the first release of pattern-only for any swingcoat design.
Our next YouTube video will feature a range of swingcoats.

Check which designs are sold just as patterns - click on designs A - Z on top horizontal navigation bar. This shows an image per design and purchasing options Garment, Kit, pattern - if a pattern isn't shown, then it's not yet available.
Links from images within this newsletter will take you directly to the order page for the garment, kit and pattern.

The Sigknit site was set up to sell garments and knitting kits, the pattern option has been added - however to order a pattern you still have to pick a colour - by clicking on a colourway option, or for a single colour garment clicking on the rainbow - this can be a little confusing!

CHECK OUT Top navigation bar Designs A-Z this shows images of all designs and all purchasing options.

www.ozeyarn.com - offers kits and patterns and this site  offers Paypal and for overseas customers allows credit card payments in Euro's, US Dollars and Pounds Sterling too, avoiding currency conversion fees.

All displayed prices include 10% local tax, which is automatically deducted from all overseas orders on both websites.
 RETRO LOOK with Lace

Back in 2012 I designed a range using lace stitch patterns. A lot of these stitch patterns date back many years and are so much fun to knit. I added a little A-line, which is also something of a retro look with the swing styles of the 1940's.

With the Coley A line left I have actually reduced the Stitches per Lace Leaf motif hem to shoulder to achieve the A-line.
This also translated into the Coley fitted Jacket, which sits into the waist, again for something of a slightly retro look.

Both of these designs are now sold as patterns.
Below the Lace Cable is very achieveable.

I watched an early Goldie Hawn Movie recently, "Swing Shift'', which reminded me of the 1940's nipped waists, great collar details and often, exaggerated shoulders.

With the Lace Cable Jacket I wanted to have the 1940's look, but also let the stitch pattern create the wavy hemline - if this were true 40's it would have a waisted figure hugging rib with plenty of neat buttons.
The pattern does of course have a longer length option as well! This shows the round neck going into a deep collar at the back and it can also be knitted with a shawl collar as shown above in cream.
Wrapping Up New Yarns for 2016
Two new weights of yarn for 2016 have been added.
Azteca is chunky and Cinque is 8-ply weight. Great colour ranges, since the 'Wave' range of designs has been so popular and of course the Yurt hat (left), I have made these patterns so they can be knitted in 3 different weights of yarn. Tonalita and Poems silk stock is limited now, so once stock is sold I will not be re ordering. You can order on www.ozeyarn.com

Above: Cinque Multi left to right: Purple Mountain, Summer Dusk, Midnight Jungle, Water, After the Storm and Lipstick, there is also Desert Sundown just added which is oranges.  Cinque comes in 50g balls colours and designs can be viewed and purchased on www.ozeyarn.com - click on image for link
