Come to the Craft & Quilt Fair....one of my favourite shows
The 2012 Art Craft & Quilt Fair includes Sydney's Cavalcade of Fashion collection from the 'Roaring Twenties' and life dancing between flappers and the Great Gatsby.
The best of today's young fashion and wearable art are also on show with competition winners from the Art U Wear competition: the best from Year 12 HSC major projects from 2011, which includes fashion, costume, textile art and furnishing.
Be amazed at 'thread art' and wearable art from Cheryl Bridgart.
Classes include techniques to create your own wearable art from felting, crochet, beading and jewelery.

New designs for 2012
Miami Drape, Tuscany Vest, Tibet A line, Jester A line as a Coat and a Jester Vest, Digit Tabard Killarney jacket/ Vest.

I didn't realise I had been so busy! I am sorry I haven't had time to photograph garments on my models this year, but I really wanted to focus on bringing you as much new to complement my classics at the shows in Australia, America and the UK. The reaction has been very, very encouraging so far from Canberra and Sydney in March and May, so I can't wait to show off what's new!

Time after class to explore the Signatur design studio

Tuscany Vest above is knitted in 4 colours - the fronts are basket stitch

With the
Miami and Tuscany I have created vertical zig zag stripes, by knitting the mitres panels sideways. You can see how beautifully the Mitre technique plays with both colour and design.

The
Jester A line
is knitted from the top down, with bodice first.

Mitres can be knitted in all directions and endless colour combinations too!!

There are two length options plus A line shaping.

Melbourne Art Craft & Quilt Fair
July 26th to 29th sees my only visit to Melbourne this year. The show was fabulous last year, with lots of you popping by to twirl in the designs you've knitted from Swing Swagger, Drape - thank you - and I really hope to see you back again twirling in all my new for 2012 creations!
 Texture Class - Fri 22nd June 9.30am-4.30pm

Why, When and Where
Purpose, Placement and Pattern
Explore textures and their use beyond the stitch pattern. Learn the stitch construction as well as the design use for shaping and styling. Six knitted swatches introduce stitch profiles and their purposes. Stacking stitches to create ribs. Alternatives to ribs from Moss stitch, double moss, corrugated garter and basket stitch. Raising the surface for bobbles, bells and leaf shapes, understanding graphs. Transporting stitches for cables or traveling stitches for Zig Zag and Diamond patterns. Plus the function of cables into garment styling.

Texture - cables, traveling stitches, bobbles and bells!

Intarsia Class - Sat 23rd June 9.30am-4.30pm
Step into Jane's world of Colour
We take you from the basics of color work to multi colored cast on edges for the ultimate in vertical stripes. Join yarns, weaving in ends and keep stitches even. Work vertical stripes from a diagram and take the mystery out of 'twisting' at color joins! Then into a colorful adventure with graph work and all the skills to allow you to enjoy Intarsia.
You will follow graphs, prepare and place yarns, compare intarsia and Fair Isle techniques and learn the whys and wherefores of using each in your garments. Working with a swatch, you will step through graphs, picking yarns and color, discuss relationships between main colors and highlight colors, tricks to following a graph and marking your progress.
Intarsia - one of my favourites. Within 15 minutes you will be knitting vertical stripes - or 'simply' intarsia - this class is about taking the tangle out of Intarsia.
